In even the biggest pile of crap it’s possible to find a little truth.
Here is the truth about my life: it’s busy. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know. We’re all busy. But there is a special kind of crazy reserved for teachers during the last week of the school year. Kids are crazier, deadlines are ridiculous, and even though the end is in sight it never seems to get any closer. This is especially true for dumb a** teachers who decide to move apartments, move classrooms, and write graduate school thesis proposals during the last week of the school year. The amazingly brilliant truth that is keeping me focused right now is that, in exactly 8 days, it will all be over. Instantaneously. Almost like the insanity never happened. And then we will all spread out in a thousand different directions for a summer of recovery. So we can love children and Bangkok and each other all over again in August.
I remember your fourth grade when you left a very important dinosaur report until the extreme last minute, but you still got a good grade. Apparently that process still works. Hope Nepal was wonderful, and you have the exciting summer I see on your itinerary. Sure you don’t want a sojourn to Wisconsin? We’ll be there twice! Kisses to Paula and Nati, and your own sweet face. Love, Mom
